Duuuuhhh!........ I was relishing in it like you were when the Republicans and the Tea Baggers were seeing this big split at the "Teabagger Convention_ ....... and then all of a sudden it dawned on me! .... That was my OMG moment.
Sooo, I thought I'd share it with you to see if you can see it as well.
There was too much bragadaccio after the we elected Obama as President, Too many pundits, progressive radio talk show hosts and observers declared the Republican party all but dead. We celebrated the demise of the dork who said he was laying the foundation for a "permanent" Republican rule (Karl Rove) and laughed him off. But now we watch as our President tries to rejuvinate the party that won that election as we face extinction ourselves. How did this happen? Polls show the generic Republican beating the generic Democrat by 5% in at least one of the most recent polls for national senate races ... That is not bad for a party that was "dead".
So,,,,,,,heres is my OMG moment.... Read on
Republicans know no loyalty to anything but the rich. That makes it so much easier for them to succeed in politics. Ask any successful politician.
So... what is the most logical move to revive a "dead" political patry?............ Change the name and expand the tent! There is no profit in loyalty to a name .. ie.. Republican. Have you noticed that the word " Neocon" has disappeared at the same time that the term "Teabagger" came into fashion?
Hence, we have the "Tea-Baggers" .... as if they are a new entity into the mix. An appeal to the lower middle working class that embraces the principles of the elite Neocons.... Less government... more tax cuts (99% of them for the rich, but it sounds good anyway), aggressive foreign policy, less regulation (no motorcycle helmets along with no regulations on banks)... and so forth and so on. If this is not another scheme by Karl Rove, it is one of his disciples for certain. Maybe someday, someone will trace the roots.
Their convention revealed splits between the "Tea Baggers" and the Republican Party. This has been revealed through flacks over guest speaker fees and edorsements (Sara Palin / John McCain) and general principles. Once the planned reconciliation has been made, it will seem like an overwhelming unification of the American spirit and that there is indeed a new mandate for change in the old direction.
Will that decide the 2010 election?
I think that is up to us.
I probably haven't covered this as much detail as I should, but I know I am a lazy writer. I wanted to provide the food for thought. I hope I have at least let a little light in so we can see what we are facing.
Now do something about it. Forewarned is forearmed.
