I just finished watching the You Tube Interview with Pres Obama, how cool was that, how in denial we are about our country.
If you are college educated, and last stats said we are were NOT college educate, and make over 100K a year, but if you are, then you have no clue about the rest of America.
We punish poverty in America, yes that is right we PUNISH you for being poor.
How? Fines, Fees, Insurances, and low pay
Just follow this
With only29% of Americans with college degrees, 71% of the country is punished for not either being able to afford college (my case) or being accepted to College.
IN this Country that is a punishable offense.
If your college educated, should we look at you think, I will pay you more than I do the electrician, plumber or auto worker.
Why? You deserve it.
I will treat you with more respect than I do the domestic worker, McDonald's window guy, or ditch digger.
Why? You went to college you Deserve more respect right?
Well NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
You do NOT deserve more respect because you were not excluded either financially to socially from college.
You do NOT deserve higher pay because you are among the privileged 29%
You do deserve to pay back your loans, work to earn respect, and be socially responsible for the ones who did NOT get to go to college. Why should I the ditch digger, McDonald's Worker shoulder the loans for you? Because your better than I am well fuck you. I will pay for your loans if you pay for mine.
You do not suffer from "should I buy food or pay car insurance", should I get shoes for the kids, or repay my second loan on my house. because for you it is a matter of juggling the money, can't pay this pay period i will pay next pay period. Or spend half your pay on fines and fees for large Government and Large corporations. (increased insurance, dines for lack of insurance, bank fees (see yesterday's diary)
Not if I can't pay this week, and I can't pay next week, when could I pay, never. why because in order to pay I have to choose Food, or Insurance. which is it.
Here is an example:
Car insurance costs 247 a month, we live week to week, paycheck to paycheck. So if I can not afford it today, how the hell can I pay it next week, and pay the 1000 worth of fines I got? Penalized for being poor.
Since I can't afford it I buy the kids some food and pray I don't get stopped by a cop, pregnant or not they will not cut me a break I am Mexican American, but all they see is the Mexican.Penalized for being poor.
As is stated here:
How much is higher education worth in cold hard money? A college master's degree is worth $1.3 million more in lifetime earnings than a high school diploma, according to a recent report from the Commerce Department's Census Bureau.
Can we afford that? Seriously, can we afford to pay that much to everyone with a Master Degeree today,,let alone if we all go get master's degrees. Penalized for being poor.
How about this:
The report titled "The Big Payoff: Educational Attainment and Synthetic Estimates of Work-Life Earnings" (.pdf) reveals that over an adult's working life, high school graduates can expect, on average, to earn $1.2 million; those with a bachelor's degree, $2.1 million; and people with a master's degree, $2.5 million.
did you really thnk this through? I propose you did not, I propose you saw something that justified your own education and latched on to it as a way to Save this country.
Well guess What I DO NOT WANT TO GO BACK TO SHCOOL
so acording to what I JUST HEARD THERE IS NO PLACE FOR ME IN AMERICA
So once again I ask
who will dig the ditches after we are all so educated, you will have no armed services, since you pay the men and women in servicing so very poorly that they can not even afford food at home.
I submit we ALL deserve a living wage, College or not, we all deserve health care female or not.
And this building of the Educated Class as being the Savior for the Depression, is False. Small business can not generate the kind of pay the College educated want to be paid.
STOP lying to us. Begin to make Steel again, Make Cars again, contract for new tanks, THAT will create jobs, not the loaning of money to a bunch of small businesses who will hire the uneducated because that is who they can afford.
Most eloquent stating of facts from a commenter:
We've always punished the poor in America (1+ / 0-)
Perhaps not as economically blatant, but since I've been aware of it (growing up poor in the 1950's), the punishment has been one of limited expectations and opportunities. I even remember hearing a teacher remark something like "Why bother teaching them more than they need for factory work."
With limited expectations there is every incentive not to commit resources to adults, and children, who just happen to be poor. As if it was a failing of effort or intelligence. And this, as you imply, is from strata of our society who are NEVER allowed to fail.
