That's the change I want to see. I'm getting tired of reading articles concerned with what the Supreme Court has done, is doing, or might do in the future, rather than with the fact that our Constitution gave nine unelected mortals the undemocratic and wholly tyrannical power to do such things.
Remember the Presidential Selection of 2000? That wasn't just a freak accident. That was the Supreme Court displaying the power that they have and can exercise at will--a power that cannot be appealed. No matter how unprecedented, illogical, or absurd their rulings, there is nothing short of armed revolution that we can do about it. Since change.org is now accepting suggestions for 2010, I posted one entitled Oust the oligarchy!.
Unlike most of my suggestions in previous years, which withered away with only one or two votes, this one appears to be more in tune with the public mood. Within 24 hours it shot up from 94th place to 8th place and now has twenty votes. Of course petitioning the oligarchy, as supplicants, to be more democratic, isn't going to bring about change, but it is a better way to express our desire for change than voting for candidates we cannot hold accountable. And change.org actually counts the votes!
