Last spring Sen. John Eichelberger said of LGBT couples, "We're allowing them to exist." His statement caused an uproar, as LGBT people and their supporters were outraged that someone with such bigoted views could hold office in Pennsylvania.
As offensive as that statement was, Sen. Eichelberger's latest move is even worse. This week he introduced legislation to put his views into the Pennsylvania Constitution. His bill would amend the Constitution to ban marriage equality.
Eichelberger not only wants to pass a law banning same-sex marriage, he wants to enshrine his bigotry in the Constitution, making it nearly impossible to ever pass marriage equality.
Eichelberger is not alone. Fourteen other state senators have joined him in his effort to permanently discriminate against same-sex couples.
We can't let them win. Send a letter to PA senators demanding to stop the ban on marriage equality in Pennsylvania.
Please join the movement toward full civil rights for all Pennsylvanians and send email to PA state senators opposing a ban on marriage equality. Click here to write to one or more State Senators. http://www.keystoneprogress.org/...
Then, forward this email to everyone you know who supports marriage equality.
Thank you in advance for taking action.
Together we will win.
