It is really extremely distasteful to see the rising clamor for the President to get Congress to do what is its job. What is with this childishness? It was odious when the Rethugs took their marching orders from Bush and it is even more odious now for many on the left to be abetting the mewling Dems' public entreaties of the President to discipline the dysfunctional Congress.
IT IS NOT HIS JOB. In fact, he has his hands full doing what is his job: running two wars, overseeing and correcting the dysfunctional executive departments and agencies, bully-pulpitting, proposing new and correctional legislation, etc.
In addition, he is trying to get everyone in the country to grow up and act their age and live up to their responsibilities:
- Parents to parent.
- Bankers to bank (and not act like the greedy guts that they have been simulating very profitably).
- Teachers to teach.
- The loyal opposition to oppose loyally and remember that they too are part of this country (or alternately to remember that he too is a part of this country).
- Politicians to remember why they (should have) got into politics.
- The list goes on.
[Last, but not least and the point of this "diary"(He has not explicitly stated this, but he is ever so gingerly inching up to it):]
N. Legislators should legislate.
It is their da**ed job, not his. He has his hands, legs, feet, plate and everything else full and overflowing. Stop acting like children and do your jobs.
Also. PASS. THE. DAMN. BILL.
