Good evening, Wheebles! I hope you've all survived the week and have something nice to look forward to this weekend. Tonight I'll share a few ideas with you and hope to hear yours as well. First a little housekeeping:
WHEE (Weight, Health, Eating and Exercise) is a community support diary for Kossacks who are currently or planning to start losing, gaining or maintaining their weight through diet and exercise or fitness. Any supportive comments, suggestions or positive distractions are appreciated. If you are working on your weight or fitness, please -- join us! You can also click the WHEE tag to view all diary posts.
Join me over the fold!
I have been mulling the idea of volunteering for a regular Friday PM slot. That time doesn't seem to attract volunteers (I have a hunch (or several) why) but I think if it were a regular commitment I could handle it. Here are a few possibilities (including a salmagundi):
- Friday Funnies
- I've done a few of these. They've included WHEE related pootie pictures, food jokes, funny nutrition facts and so on.
- WHEE news briefs
- I've occasionally added these in the comments. My hunch is that over a week it would be easy to put together an interesting mix of them.
- Biochemistry of eating and nutrition
- This is where my expertise lies. I've written a few times about glycemic effect but there is much, much more that could be written about carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, hormones and the whole megillah.
- Recipe round up
- This would feature a few healthy recipes from our family traditions and the occasion to share yours with us.
- Reading through Changing for Good
- Prochaska's Changing for Good looks at how actual people in the real world make changes like quitting smoking and losing weight (and keeping it off). I would take it a chapter at a time and would be happy to share it with someone else if they're interested.
- Salmagundi
- A little bit of this, a little bit of that, either mixed up each week or different topics different weeks depending on how it took me (and you, of course!).
I don't know if any of these would be of interest on a weekly basis (and quite possibly that would be too much of me at any rate!). So, please take the poll and give me some feedback. I hope that another regular weekly diarist would not discourage others from volunteering, and I offer up front to let anyone have the slot any week it is wanted.
In any case, do consider volunteering for a diary. "A diary" can be as simple as an open thread, too. I have some other thoughts percolating about possible open threads and how to organize them, but I'm saving those for a separate diary. How's your week been?
