My hometown in Northern Virginia, along with the rest of the DC Metro, is experiencing possibly the biggest snowfall they've ever seen tonight and tomorrow. The National Weather Service predictsthat 20-30 inches of snow, and potentially more than that, will fall across the DC region through Saturday night. Parts of the DC/Baltimore region (including DC and Baltimore propers) are even under blizzard warnings, which are pretty rare in that area (aside from the Dec 19 "Snowpocalypse" last year, the area hadn't seen a blizzard warning since the 1996 snowstorm).

As reporter Matt Ackland and his photographer Nelson Jones were driving down Wisconsin Avenue in Upper Northwest D.C. while they were live on the air, they spotted a man trying to push his car out of the snow. When they stopped to help—live on the air—they found that it was none other than former South Dakota Senator Tom Daschle.

States of Emergency were declared in Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware, and a snow emergency was declared in the City of Washington DC in anticipation of the record snowfall.
