Here’s a discussion I filmed from Morning Joe this morning where Lawrence O’Donnell, appropriately, gets angry toward a naive bush flunkie (speechwriter Marc Thiessen) who accuses Obama of inviting the next terrorist attack.
Part 1:
Part 2:
The fireworks are mainly near the end of Part 1. But there is also some interesting stuff in Part 2, especially near the end where O’Donnell questions the flunkie’s credentials to level any sort of critique of terrorism policies.
It’s always fun to see a liberal not allow himself to be dominated by Joe’s right wing control on Bush foreign policy matters. One reason that Joe refers to O'Donnell as "crazy Larry" is because he challenges Joe and guests all the time on Bush terror policy issues. Criticism of Bush's terror policies is one of the things that can set Joe off into a purple rage. Joe gets so upset here that he angrily, abruptly ends the segment early and goes to commercials.
Joe states that the problem with Larry’s actions is that "this is not a cross fire sort of show". In reality it's frequently a crossfire show -- when Joe is the one on the attack. And if one wants to challenge Joe and not let him talk over you, it has to be a crossfire shouting match sort of show or one gets dominated. It’s good to see someone challenge him or a like-minded guest, even if it means the person is cut off and labeled "crazy" because of willingness to do it.
