Obama has really been surprising me lately...
I'm not sure if it's a good thing or bad, not only in reference to his persistence of winning over Republicans' consent, but with this general slow style of governing...(and there's a bunch of other stuff too)
SUPERMAJORITY: The invention of an 8 year old boy, which assured him that when he didn't get his way, nobody else got theirs.
It seems to me, that if the majority wants to create a rule, where majority passes a bill instead of requiring a SUPERMAJORITY, it could be done within a matter of days. Or even a day.
Or is this idea "Socialist?" Cause if it is....I won't suggest it anymore....you know....the idea of a MAJORITY having the last word....nah...
This brings me around to Obama's recent attempt for desperate approval from the Republicans. He says he's not in this to play "good politics" (which we'd be naive to believe, but it can be taken honestly to an extent I suppose) but he just won't stop with the bipartisan desperado stuff.
They're not going to like you! It sounds like something Jon Stewart brought up a month ago....just forget them!! I trust the Democratic party enough (as of now and despite a few bad ones...) to make wise (enough) decisions using a majority rule...which, from what I understand, would be 51....the last Democratic Pres. did a pretty good job with the budget...
What I'm HOPING Obama is doing here, with this, sort of "Jedi Patience" with Republicans, is that he's giving them a CHANCE to be part of the solution....I HOPE he's basically saying "If you don't stop standing in the way, engage in reconciliation (with all bills), and present substitutions for things you may not agree with, the majority WILL VOTE YOU out of the way!"
Of course, the "news outlets" (as I like to call them) will be flipping this as a Communist/Facist (Because ignorant people don't know one from the other) Black attempt to terrorize the "Average Joe" with gov't run death sentences, which will be enacted by secret black police...AND NAZIS.
I seriously hope this attempt at bipartisanship will be nothing more than a final attempt that will result in the MAJORITY voting to only need a MAJORITY to pass a bill....the political right is SERIOUSLY going OFF THEIR ROCKERS.
They're justifying their position on Climate Change because of a SNOWSTORM IN THEIR STATE??? (All the while, Vancouver isn't getting any..)
If their view on climate change is as NARROW MINDED and TUNNEL VISIONED as their beliefs on Politics, it's kind of obvious what you can expect from people like these...
I know, Obama has done a few awesome things for our country, a few things that Bush wouldn't dream of doing that has surely helped out the middle class and unemployed (or would be), but it seems that gov't is just moving SUPERSLOW in a time it should be blazing paths...
And the funny thing is, it's the Republican's, who claim they're the "average Joe politicians" who are the ones HOLDING GOV'T UP! In other words, they're purposely slowing down the recovery of our economy.
Has anyone else noticed that Fox "news" rarely reports on positive upticks in Jobs or the Economy? They are CONSTANTLY REPORTING that NEW drops in the market and economy are right around the corner (that corner gets nudged a little further every time they're wrong...).
As Jon Stewart put them, Fox "news" is a "cyclonic, perpetual emotion machine."
It is really obvious they are attempting to incite emotion and anger (ALWAYS with the ANGER!) to somehow draw up the raw primal states of minds of their FOLLOWERS. It's obviously working, because it's now legal to belong to a PUBLICALLY NOTICED RACIST CULT.
Slowly but surely, Palin is leading them into a deeper state of stupidity and ignorance. Why do they love their guns so much?? Are they REALLY that weak? Isn't that called Napoleon Syndrome? And this is something people ban together for now?
I swear, if my Grandpa were alive, he'd be SICK to see what Republicans have played themselves out to be. They've really messed things up...and they don't give a SHIT about who they take with them in the process.
If the "Democracy/Citizen Relationship" doesn't stay at a mutual level, it's just not going to work! There has to be an equilibrium.
I'm also wondering, if Republican's had the Presidential Office right now, would they require a Supermajority vote for a bill to pass?
I am HONESTLY SCARED to think about a Republican becoming President. With all of this racist crap, this negativity and just plain douchebagery.
They are standing in the way on purpose. The nominees being held up, the various people in the administration being forced to resign because of the media attacks...anti-gay, anti-choice....
For people to be SO damn in LOVE with the Constitution, they REALLY FORGET to read ALL OF IT....they intermingle the Bible with the Constitution, then use it when it benefits them, and use it against those whom it will not.
I just figure, if the "Average Joe" can't see this for himself, he's probably a "Below-Average Joe."
