Will the DNC or somebody be smart enough to accept?
So the Republicans are once again telegraphing their punch: Filibuster anything and everything, believing that it will lead them to victory in November's election.
While my Cubs fan optimist side would like to believe that the general electorate across the country is smarter than that, I'm not so sure about the D.C. Democrats.
So Mr. Kaine & Co., I humbly offer the following attack ad script for consideration. If you like it, please give me a shout, and a check for something in, say, the mid-5 figures (before the decimal point):
V/O: We have serious problems that need serious solutions.
(Images of news citations: unemployment, climate change, Wall St. running amok, skyrocketing health insurance rates, etc.)
V/O: Democrats have been hard at work since Day One to clean up the mess left us by 30 years of bad Republican ideas, and find answers that will move us forward into the 21st Century.
(Video of Obama signing bills into law, the cabinet, Pelosi, Franken, etc., at work, and images of ARRA-related groundbreakings and announcements, people going back to work, etc.)
(Then a jarring cut to video of cars spinning in place on winter streets; teabaggers disrupting public "town halls", vehicles in ditches, "birthers" with their signs, Sarah Palin, etc.)
V/O: Republicans, not so much. They don't want progress. They want to keep us stuck in place. How do we know? They've admitted it.
(Video of McConnell, Boehner, Barbour, and other GOP leaders announcing/admitting they will filibuster everything.)
V/O: There you have it. Move forward together in the new century? Or stay stuck in the old one? The choice is yours. On Nov. 2, vote Democratic.
That's it, in a nutshell. What do you think? Please list ideas on improving my script, or supply a script of your own in the comments.
And Happy Valentine's Day to one and all.
