The Republicans are just a major piece of work and this Graham fellow is a fine example thereof.
On FAUX News, Lindsay Graham has saddled Harry Reid with the blame for the "GOP's record filibusterization"
When asked about the GOP's use of the filibuster, Graham said, "Harry Reid put more bills in -- into the hopper and filled up the tree, shedding out Republican amendments [more] than anybody I know of, but we're all in this together."
It's all Harry's fault.
Here I thought Harry was just a spineless capitulation machine then I learn the man has such great power he has FORCED to GOP to say "no" constantly, forcing them to launch 112 filibusters, a record. They didn't want to be obstructionists, of course, but Harry caused it.
Good show, Harry!
Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) called the use of filibusters "unprecedented" when they reached 100. The Republicans' whole political strategy is for this President and for this Congress to fail," he said on ABC last month.
All our Republican colleagues have said is no, he went on to say. They have used the filibuster, a procedure in the Senate to stop progress, 101 times, unprecedented in the history of the United States Senate!
Being a Republican on FAUX news, but where it almost seemed the anchor there was about to ACTUALLY saddle the GOP with 'blame' (a type of assertion that implies a person or a group has a responsibility for creating an unfavorable occurrence or situation) Lindsay did what republicans do: he seamlessly moved the topic to the War on Terror and rattled about that. There is video at the link.
He attempted to foist the focus for governmental non-achievement back on the Democrats by changing the subject to what Obama needs to do on national security and the 'War on Terror':
"I will meet the president more than halfway and help him close Guantanamo Bay, only if he creates a legal system to make us safe and keep this enemy off the battlefield in a transparent way living within our values," Graham told Fox News' Chris Wallace Sunday.
Hmmm..... this seems a bit off-topic for this subject, but thanks to GOP lying and hypocrisy, we sort of need to look at it for a moment.
We already have a legal system that would keep these people off the "battlefield" and in a maximum security prison IF they were actually found guilty (and not have their charges dismissed due to the presence of torture....) but the GOP is saying, elsewhere, that these trials aren't acceptable, even though they were acceptable under Bush.
Lindsay Graham, on civilian trials for 'terrorists'.:
Robert Gibbs provides the smackdown for this particular bit of massive flip-floppery:
"What we have here is politicians who've decided, eight years after they agreed that everything that was done with Richard Reid somehow is now done all wrong because it's a different president," Gibbs said during an appearance on MSNBC.
The White House has been locked in a public battle with Republican lawmakers, led by Sen. Kit Bond (R-Mo.), the ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, over its handling of the attempted bombing. Gibbs was specifically referencing some of those lawmakers' support during the Bush administration of a civilian trial for shoe bomber Richard Reid and 9/11 co-conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui.
Of course, this isn't really news - everybody now sort of knows this. The point is that the GOP is running out of room to paint themselves further into their little corners.
They are trapped by their own lying and bitter hypocrisy and their dead-ender reliance on simply opposing anything Obama is for.
I just thought it was relatively "clever" for a Republican to blame a Democrat - one I think acts like he has no power whatsoever - for 'causing' the GOP to filibuster everything. In reality, one can go too far. Being out of touch with reality, Republicans have no possible clue when they have gone too far.
This is why, when confronted by a 'reporter' on FAUX - the single most friendly territory in the US media for Republicans, Graham still feels compelled to make this outrageous assertion that Reid 'caused' these filibusters and to then dive back into the war on terror brier patch.
Poor widdle wepubwicans: Lying and 9/11 and opposing Obama, no matter what: past their massive corporate sponsorship and complicit media it's all they have now.
