Politics is messy, much like making brownies. American politics is much messier. I promised to write another diary, but had to think of a topic to write about and I decided to our political system today.
When a major party in a country wants the President and the majority of Congress to fail, you know you have some serious problems. In America, we have some serious problems.
Politics is messy, much like making brownies. American politics is much messier. I promised to write another diary, but had to think of a topic to write about and I decided to our political system today.
When a major party in a country wants the President and the majority of Congress to fail, you know you have some serious problems. In America, we have some serious problems. Every day in Congress has become Election Day. Each move and each vote by politicians has been to look out for the next Tuesday in November. Politicians need to stand where they stand and let the American people vote based on their performances with their true intentions shown. Changing one's true views to please a certain voter base or to raise money from lobbyists is unacceptable. We elect our leaders to lead, not to make backdoor deals and look out for their career over their constituents and their country.
What disgusts me is people like Palin, Boehner, Beck, O'Reilly, Cheney, McConnell, Cantor, etc., whose pleasure of each day is putting down the President and the Democrats. They're your fellow Americans and Obama is your President. Show some respect. You can make your points without smirking and laughing about petty things that the President does and some comments and suggestions made are incredibly inappropriate and shameful.
As I stated in my first diary, I'm young but I play political simulations online frequently. In those games, deals are made with each other quite frequently, and I, myself have made them without realizing it. It's hard for any elected official in today's government system to actually stand where they stand. I'm more than convinced that more than 60 Senators and 218 Representatives truly support the proposed health care plan, yet the few who lack courage ruin reform for the entire country so selfishly.
Although it looks grim now, I'm convinced that our situation will turn out like baking brownies. Baking brownies is messy. Batter gets everywhere, flour gets on clothing, and there's some contention on how to make it or who'll clean up the mess, but in the end, the mess comes out as a delicious and sweet treat. Let's hope, for our sake, that America turns out like a brownie.
