I was talking to my Congresswoman last night. Carol Shea Porter is the BEST representative that I have ever had or could imagine. She reminded those of us who joined her for a Valentine's Day party and fundraiser that the House has passed a lot of legislation that the Senate just can't finish.
My suggestion would be to break the polling on Congressional Dems and Rs down into House Dems, House Rs, Senate Dems and Senate Rs. This would call some attention to the fact that the House is doing a much better job for us than the Senate. I think we need to get that word out. We can then give some support to our House folks who ARE doing their jobs, by highlighting the truth, that there are two houses of Congress that have to pass legislation, and one is working for us and the other is stalemated.
Some people really don't even think about this. They just hear Congress and think that no one is doing anything for them in DC. I know we poll the leadership, but that just makes it look like the rest are sheep following a leader, and that is not true either. I know there are all too many letters in our local crappy right-leaning papers accusing Carol of being attached to Nancy Pelosi by unbreakable bonds.
The way we ask poll questions, we know, skews the answers. Maybe we can get some information out there in the way we ask the questions and give our House progressives a boost in the process.
