Is there a problem with getting right wing spin points out in the MSM and Right Wing Echo Chamber? Did AEI develop a broken spoke in their BS-machine and ask for a friendly hand ? What makes it a good idea to put Barone's AEI concern trolling advice for Democrats on the front page of DKOS.
I'm perhaps not the most sophisticated analyst of politics, but if Michael Barone said it was a sunny day, I'd take an umbrella. The man is employed to push the political ideology of the Koch family. The fact that he has a position US News and World report is an indication of the sickness of the American media. And this story of his is the usual instant soup of cliches and mal-intent.
The following paragraph could be used in a texbook on how Republics/Chamber-of-Commerce control the messaging the system.
So you, as a Democratic member with potentially serious opposition, do the political caucus. If you vote for the Senate bill, you’re voting for something that has 35% support nationwide and probably a little less than that in your district.
Let's translate that and write what he really means:
After the Chamber of Commerce and AHIP paid for, and the well organized media apparatus and fraudulent "think tank" system joined in, most Americans have a poor impression of the Senate bill. Now, if we just hold on, we have the opportunity we have been dreaming of since November - handing an embarrassing political failure to Obama and denying him a success to take into the 2010 elections. If Anthem can just STFU for another month or two, we can bury this sucker.
The fact is that most people on DKOS don't know what's in that bill. They do not understand that Bernie Sanders, Barbara Boxer, Tom Harkin, Sherrod Brown and the other, best Senators have all argued that this bill has way too many good elements in it to be discarded. They do not realize that the political dynamics mean that the negatives for health reform have already been attached to Democrats and having NOTHING to show for those negatives is far worse than having something. They do not realize that passing the bill will make the dynamic in Washington favor additional Democratic initiatives - because the Democrats will have shown resolve and ability to cross the finish line so the waverers will have to consider whether opposition will get them anything.
I know that not everyone here agrees with this position and I'd be happy to debate it with Democrats. But, after all this, we should have a starting point agreement that Michael Barone has nothing serious or honest to say on any subject.
