Dartmouth's Professor Vijay Govindarajan has just posted an entry on the Harvard Business Review site noting the fact that:
between 2009 and 2013, the governments of China, Japan, and Korea will out-invest the U.S. three to one in CleanTech: $509 billion vs. $172 billion.
Professor Govindarajan is not just another academic. He spent the last two years working as GE's innovation consultant, opening their eyes to competition from Asia - China and India, specifically.
In his post Professor Govindarajan argues that:
> President Obama must communicate the difference between governing for the present and governing for the future.
> We have to make the tough choices now.
> American companies must lead the race to use sun and wind to power poor countries - then bring back these solutions to transform the U.S.
> American CEOs must step up.
Incidentally, he also notes the underhanded tactics of our US Chamber of Commerce..
