Republican Representative Hal Rogers of Kentucky's 5th Congressional District may not be having as good a year as he hopes. With declining contributions and continuing economic hardships in the region, perhaps this Red region may have a "shift" this time around.
Yes, donations have not been good this time around for our local, top 22 most corrupt, Republican congressmen. Hal has had quite the decline in funds, Open Secrets is reporting. To me, this is great news, and a sign we really need to push for the local challengers of Hal.
So, let me quickly introduce you to Democratic candidate Jim Holbert, and his views on the issues. His campaign is at it's infancy I was told on the phone this morning, after having signed up to volunteer to help with his campaign. His facebook still has less than 150 people on there, which I hope will grow as more people find out about him. With the label of "party of no", falling funds, mantra of "kick the bums out" not helping currently seated Representatives of both stripes, I am hoping this year, we have a chance to remove one of our more corrupt members of Congress.
If you are in this area of Kentucky, we need to work together, grassroots, to help unseat Hal and get someone in there with more progressive views. Holbert wants an end to the wars, Openly stated support in HR 676 and reconciliation for the Public Option. If you are not, then help us get this guy's name out there, add him on your facebook, help with the momentum however you can. As the funds and popularity of Hal are in free fall, it is up to us to try and use this to our advantage. Our region of Appalachia has been abused too long, and ignored too long, and I think anyone here, can see that.
