Is the title far fetched? Maybe. But let's not only look at one aspect of a quote I am going to share. On Faux News, there is an article entitled Miss Beverly Hills Lauren Ashley Opposes Same Sex Marriage and it's very ineteresting what she said. See below.
First of all...Miss Beverly Hills? Are we really going to get involved in a discussion with someone who is not even Miss California yet? Well....yes, beacsue it is astonishing what she said in my eyes.
The article starts off by stating
Carrie Prejean isn't the only beauty queen open to expressing her objection to same-sex marriage.
Miss Beverly Hills 2010 Lauren Ashley is also speaking out in support of traditional nuptials.
Ok, fair enough. However, the best is yet to come. They quote her actually quoting the Bible, specifically Leviticus. Yes, the part of the Bible people really want to quote from. The same Leviticus that states:
If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death
Anyways, the article actually quotes what Lauren Ashley told Pop Tarts. LOL. No typo there...Pop Tarts. She is quoted as saying:
The Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman. In Leviticus it says, 'If man lies with mankind as he would lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination'
Ok. Standard Bible quote. Some people quote the Bible and that is fine if they want to. That is her belief, so she quotes that part of the Bible. But that's not all she quoted. Look at her full quote.
The Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman. In Leviticus it says, 'If man lies with mankind as he would lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death and their blood shall be upon them.' The Bible is pretty black and white
and...
I feel like God himself created mankind and he loves everyone, and he has the best for everyone. If he says that having sex with someone of your same gender is going to bring death upon you, that's a pretty stern warning, and he knows more than we do about life
She she just insinuate that gays should be put to death? People can say, "that's your interpretation on what she said." No, that IS what she said, in her own words. Although it is part of the republican national pasttime to quote one part of the Bible that meets their views and disregard the others, they at least do not quote the part that is not alligned with their views. She quoted it all and brought up "death" twice. Call me out on picking on her or making a stink over nothing, but it is these kinds of people that are dangerous in today's society. The ultra-religious, Pat Robertsonesque, kooks that are filled with hatred where they actaully condone violence.
UPDATE: A Comment by Steveningen that is too funny, and 100% correct, to pass up ...
I wonder what the people who lived during the time Leviticus was written would think about a woman walking on a stage wearing an itty bitty bikini glued to her ass
UPDATE #2: thought a title change was appropriate
