Well, at least vote for someone. A coupla weeks or so back, I came upon an effort, organized by Laughing Planet and Patriot Daily News Clearinghouse (PDNC) to have some kind of awards here on Daily Kos. They called it The Daily kOscars. It's all kinda informal and seat-of-the-pants.
By the time I happened upon these diaries, they'd already settled on the categories. And, lemme tell ya, they left some categories out! No "Best Green Diary"? Nothing for "International" coverage? It's not officially sanctioned by anybody, and there's a million things you could find wrong with it. Hell, one of my diaries that was nominated mysteriously disappeared from the ballots.
BFD!! It's a fun effort to remind us all of the depth of talent here on Daily Kos. So use this as an opportunity to catch up on some of the great writing that you might have missed the first time around.
This diary I'm writing now is a "volunteer" effort, maybe even a rogue diary. Here's what I'm gonna do -- I'll embed the widgets for two of the categories I'm nominated for. (I'm warned that it causes problems with Flash Players to post 'em all...) I'll give links to the rest. And, of course, links to the nominees because that's the main point: Highlighting good work posted here on Daily Kos.
You can also vote via LP on diaries & diarists and PDNC on series and comments. Those diaries have widgets. You can only vote once in each category. You don't have to vote for all of 'em at once. There's a lot of good stuff here, don't forget! So it might take awhile to review it all - and if something you like isn't there, that means no one who commented in the nominating diaries suggested it. Or else the nomination got lost accidentally. Or something else. This is meant to be fun, so don't get too wound up about it.
VOTE FOR ME!!!
I'm nominated in three categories - History Series, Diary of the Year and Best Investigative diary. Of course, I'm up against Unitary Moonbat, dengre and many other excellent nominees. But vote for me anyhow! And then vote in some of the other categories, too. There's like a week or so more till the deadline, but it's not that long. Winners to be announced the same day as the movie Oscars.
