luvsathoroughbred’s quilt top, coming together, with the green paisley border fabric draped on the side
Charles CurtisStanley has taken excellent care of his wife, Kitsap River, through her long journey of kidney disease. We hope that journey is going to end with a new kidney soon! But in the meantime, let us honor her tireless caretaker.

Caretakers have it rough. There is little rest for them and much anxiety. All the time. Caretaking of fragile patients is a 24/7 activity and the caretaker is on point constantly. As one might expect, this gets to be pretty wearing – and yet the caretaker cannot just put down the job and rest.

So we are making a “love catcher” blanket for Charles. Seventeen messages have been collected so far – if you have not provided one, please do so in the comments below.
Here are some examples:
Dear Charles, River's deep love for you is caught in this lovecatcher, ours is caught within for you both. kfred
Thank you for being a wonderful partner to River as her lover, her friend, and her steady rock for support. slinkerwink
There is no greater gift than simply being there, every day. Blessings. Noweasels
Charles, may you be wrapped in strength and peace! Love, Ekaterin
Charles, When I met River she was radiant, clearly a reflection of your love for each other. Thanks for keeping us posted when she was ill. I really look forward to meeting you in person. Ramara

The cost of these blankets is estimated at $4/message for simple, tied charm lap throws and $5/message for more complicated, larger blankets. If we make the simpler type for Charles, we are still short about $87. There is a PayPal link here if you would like to contribute – or email me for a snail mail address if you would like to send a check.
