Per the Huffington Post, Harry Reid walked out of a meeting today with 11 CEOs of major corporations who tried to argue that passing a jobs bill that supported big business is de facto support of small business:
Reid Spars With CEOs, Walks Out Of Meeting
The money quote:
"I think we got it straightened out. I made a couple of statements and I said, 'You're not implying we shouldn't be doing this for small business?' And they retreated very quickly. So I think we got it straightened out," he said.
I'm not the biggest fan of Harry Reid, but I think its important to give him some positive reinforcement when he does the right thing. And I think in this case he did the right thing. I work for a small business support organization and one of the biggest issues the small businesses I work for deal with on a constant basis is being outbid, outadvertised, outspent, and generally overtaken and overwhelmed by the financial strength and political power of big business.
I am ashamed that Sen. Stabenow organized the aforementioned meeting. The Democratic Party is the party of smalll business and always has been. If you get a chance, contact Harry's office and thank him for reinforcing this fact.
