OK, this is apolitical but important.
I got a friend of mine that is taking part in a Boston Red Sox sponsored event to raise money for returning wounded Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.

The Boston Red Sox are sponsoring a "Run to Home Base" on May 23rd. It is a 9K (5.5 miles) road race throughout Boston, and the "finish line" is home plate at Fenway Park. Each runner is required to raise $1000.00, all of which goes to the Red Sox Foundation and Mass General Hospital Home Base Program. All funds raised for this program are used to "provide care and community outreach to veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with combat stress disorders and/or traumatic brain injuries and their families."
Any little bit will help. Even as low as a $10.
She'll be one of only 3,500 people allowed to run in this race and is asking for assistance in raising the money for this noble cause.
Help support our veterans by donating to her "Run to Home Base 9K" race entry.
The RUN TO HOME BASE 9K is a unique and special event that celebrates our military heroes and raises necessary funds for the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program. The Home Base Program is committed to serving the needs of veterans with combat stress disorders and/or traumatic brain injury and their families, but we need your support.
Your support to the Home Base Program will help to ensure that local veterans who served their country receive the care they need for combat stress disorders and/or traumatic brain injury, and that their families get the support they need. The Home Base Program also seeks to advance innovative treatments that hold the most potential for helping veterans with combat stress disorders and/or traumatic brain injury and their families.
I have pledged to raise at least $1,000 and need your help. Please support me and support our service men and women.
