According to the website of Rep. Sally Kern, she “believes in limited government” and “the U.S. Constitution.” But does she really believe in these things? I believe her legislative record suggests otherwise, and that’s why I’m running for State Representative in House District 84.
This session, Rep. Kern has shown that “limited government” is nothing more than a political buzzword for her campaign. She introduced HB 2279, which “would eliminate the incompatibility grounds when there are living minor children in the marriage, the parties have been married 10 years or longer, or if either party files a written objection to the divorce.” Somehow, in Rep. Kern’s world, adding more government restrictions into the lives of Oklahomans who wish to terminate their relationship is “limited government.”
In another interesting move running counter to the idea of “limited government,” Rep. Kern voted just last week to pass HB 3077, which will ban women from selling their eggs to fertility clinics. Although the law already requires that women who participate in this procedure be of legal age and that they provide their informed consent, Rep. Kern believes the state should substitute its judgment for the judgment of adult women.
To me, the idea of “limited government” means something. It means that the state should not interfere in the private lives of its citizens or infringe on the fundamental liberty interest protected by our state and federal constitutions.
Not only is Rep. Kern out of touch with mainstream Oklahoma values and bad for Oklahoma business, she’s out of touch with her own professed ideology. I believe Oklahomans deserve a better choice.
If you feel as I do, please support my campaign for State Representative by contributing at www.brittany4hd84.com today! With your support, we can share our common Oklahoma values and our vision for a brighter future with the voters of HD 84 and achieve victory for the people of Oklahoma in November!

UPDATE: I'll stick around until 1:00 Central today to answer any other questions fellow Kossacks may have about my candidacy!
UPDATE II: In a not too stunning development, Rep. Kern just voted to require Oklahoma women who wish to undergo a private medical procedure that is protected by the U.S. Constitution to have an ultrasound before obtaining such services. If you believe in the individual rights of women, please support my campaign for the Oklahoma House.
