Democrats have an uncanny knack of not taking advantage of opportunities.  Right now we have the spectacle of a Republican Senator single-handedly causing tens of thousands to suffer from cut-off of unemployment insurance and COBRA.

Why isn't every single Democrat, especially those Senators running this year, holding a press conference, doing mailings and doing everything possible to make his or her opponent answer the simple question:

Do you support Bunning's campaign against the unemployed?

Are the DSSC or the House Dems organizing this?

There should be full page ads, thirty second spots on TV, viral videos, etc. to make it clear that Republicans hate working people if the will not condemn Bunning.

Aside from passing health care, the Dems' only chance to avoid disaster in November is to convince people that

Republicans cannot be trusted to Govern

There are ample grounds to support that the Republicans cannot be trusted to govern:

They almost destroyed the country over eight years.

They are doing everything possible to hurt the unemployed now.

Therefore, they cannot be returned to power.

Again, Democratic candidate must ask their opponents:

Do you support Jim Bunning's War on the Unemployed?

Update:

I want to see Paul Hodes do this in NH.

I want to see Kendrick Meek do this in FL

I want to see Barbara Boxer do this in CA.

I want to see Alexi Giannoulis do this in IL.

I want to see Jennifer Brunner do this in Ohio.

I want to see all of the House Dem. Reps do this.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

working man?   And work against every good thing we try to do for them?

They are glad to bail out mega-millionaires and banks, but don't give a hoot about dying children without health care, or unemployed folks who've worked and struggled their whole lifes just to get by, or buy a home.

      Dang, their miserable souls.

          we need him.

One of my favorite cartoons was published in a decade long compendium of New Yorker Cartoons which showed this cheezy fellow pissing on a side-walk display of original art, and he was label "Critic" as in newspaper critic.

We need a talented artist to modify this and change it to Bunning and the Republican obstruction pissing on the American working folks, unemployed, and uninsured children.

Gross but a vivid representation of what is actually happening.

Unless it benefits the rich and powerful, talk it to death while ordinary folk go broke, get sick and die.

Make them wear it like a sandwich board.

Make them try to run on it this fall and for 2012.

If that's their idea of governing, make them run on it.

In the meantime, make them vote on it.

        Cloture their asses.

The key is to tie Bunning to all Republicans.  Kyl and Cornyn have defended him, Kyl saying the unemp. ins. hurts the economy!

Bunning may be crazy, but the other Republicans are just as heartless and people need to know how bad they are.

every such instance of Republican obstructionism is highlighted in every media vector.

We need this meme being discussed in sports bars, breakfast groups, lunch rooms, and water coolers.

During the Bush era I heard a lot about the informal "Whisper Campaigns" organized by Karl Rove where he could put out the weekly talking points that would cascade down a telephone tree getting them interjected in church discussions, and company picnics.

This is part of how the word "liberal" got redefined from a virtue to a vice.

We should do the same with the words Republican, and conservative - the people who fight against the common good and the common man.

    Keep on trucken.

demand that the traditional media highlight this obstructionism with greater agreesiveness.

Isn't it a valid statement to say that not allowing Obama to fully staff key agencies puts our national security at risk.

Someone like Biden should go out as say, if we have another terrorist attack, part of the blame can and will be laid at the feet of Republican obstructionist who are preventing Obama from even fully staffing agencies 25% of the way into his term, after clearly winning the election.

Do they want to establish this as precident for all future administrations -- that they have to limp along taking half their term just to get the agencies staffed?

This is outrageous BS, that not even many GOPers must really be in favor off - it's unpatriotic.

A-hole. He wants to block $10 billion of last resort unemployment benefits because we haven't used budget neutral offsets, but hasn't complianed one iota for the almost $500 billion added for the Iraqi and Afghani wars.

He doesn't care if American children go hungry, and without any safety net of last resort.

And this guy, displays his purported Christianity on his sleeve.

How disgusting.  How long will his constituents put up this this disgrace?

if American children go hungry without any safety net of last resort. By all appearances he wants them to go hungry as punishment to their parents for being unemployed. Them, too. He wants people to die. It is class warfare. I think the word "genocide" is appropriate.

That being said, desperate times call for desperate measures.  People are going hungry and will not be able to afford insurance.  So, Bunning sit down and be quiet.

One of the British papers editorial writer covered the latest speech by Conservative Leader and wanna be Prime Minister and said it was lacking in fire and passion.  He described it as too much tree hugger and too little boiling bunnies.

As I read it in the 777 over the Atlantic this AM I laughed as it describes the Democrats and the President just as well---
