Last night Jahiz spotlighted Rachel Maddow's inspired takedown of Orrin Hatch's mendacious Washington Post health care OpEd in the recommended diary Maddow Battens Down the Hatch. The diary was well-received and stayed on the Rec List for many hours of fun.
Seems that we're not the only ones who noticed. Today TV Newser brings us a Twitter exchange between Hatch and Maddow:
@maddow (Rachel Maddow) ran me down on her show last night over my views on health care reform. Wonderful badge of honor.
Dear @OrrinHatch: http://is.gd/... I didn't actually address your views, sir, just your misrepresentation of the facts.
Dear Senator Hatch: Never get in an argument with someone much smarter than you, especially when you've been caught red-handed with flat-out lies.
UPDATE: After unexpectedly making the rec list, see below for public-spirited addendum.
Rachel's show is the number two-rated prime-time cable news show not on Fox, or in other words the number two-rated prime-time cable news show. Both her show and Keith Olbermann's have seen declines in ratings in the past year, as have all cable news shows except Glenn Beck's.
Please let all your friends, and even your conservative interlocutors know about Rachel Maddow. She deserves the widest possible audience, and as her bravery grows so should her clout in the corporate front office. We'll keep her if we support her, so please talk up her show whenever you can.
