Contrary to early reports by Radar, a gossip magazine of entertainment, fashion, politics, and human interest, Chief Justice John Roberts is NOT planning to step down from the supreme court for "personal reasons". Radar revised their earlier story.

-------
If true, this has implications for the direction of our country too big to overstate. Does anyone here know how accurate Radar tends to be? It appears that they've gotten big exclusives before, but only on "fluff" pieces like Octomom and the like.
The story seems unlikely, but it depends on what "personal reasons" are. Roberts had an unexplained seizure in 2007 and has complained about justice salaries before, but weighing against that, it is rare for a (relatively) young justice to retire during a presidency with an opposing political ideology.
Update x1: Drudge says it's not happening.
Update x2: Updated with more info on Radar and Roberts.
Update x3: Radar has retracted their original story. Not happening, people!
