Are you a Kossack living in Northern Virginia? Do you want millions of uninsured people to not die because they couldn't afford health insurance? Are you comfortable with your Representative turning off the federal spigot to Rep. Bart Stupak if he doesn't drop his objections to the Senate Health Care bill?
If you said yes - I have good news for you.
Congressman Jim Moran, who represents Arlington and a few other areas in Northern Virginia (just across the river from DC), took on a new role - Chairman of the Interior Appropriations Subcommittee, which pretty much puts him in charge of the money for things like the Department of Interior, Environmental Protection Agency, and other related things.
Congressman Stupak's district is northern Michigan, including all of the Upper Peninsula. The lifeblood of his district is based on the Great Lakes being a viable tourist destination and fishery, and to ensure that it stays that way, his district will need money through those same agencies that Moran now has jurisdiction over.
If you live in Arlington, call Rep. Moran's office - they are all nice people, and like talking to constituents - and congratulate the Congressman on his new role. Then ask that he make sure that no money from his committee go to the 1st district of Michigan unless Rep. Stupak drops his threat to kill the Health Care bill.
Rep. Moran's office number is 202-225-4376 - please be polite, his staffers are very nice and deserve courtesy.
