In what appears to be the opening salvo in the war on homosexuals in Virginia, recently elected Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R - Deliverance) is urging Va colleges to drop their protection of gays from discrimination.
Idiot
"It is my advice that the law and public policy of the Commonwealth of Virginia prohibit a college or university from including 'sexual orientation,' 'gender identity,' 'gender expression,' or like classification as a protected class within its non-discrimination policy absent specific authorization from the General Assembly," he wrote in the letter.
His "urging" is in a letter and it is not clear exactly what authority he has to do a damn thing about it, but no doubt this is a warning shot across the bow to any school that doesn't comply. On the one hand I'm happy to see this thing go public. The whispering campaigns and backroom deals don't allow the public to respond. Of course, at a time when Maryland and DC are recognizing gay marriage, its pretty clear that the Repubs in VA intend to take the opposite tack and go full teabag.
If anyone wondered why Creigh Deeds' "aww shucks" demeanor towards his campaign was so nauseating, here is your answer. Four years of this crap.
