A story in today's SacBee titled, AD Watch: Meg Whitman Ad Ignores Her Boxer Endorsement does a little fact checking...

GOP gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman is running a series of ads attacking opponent Steve Poizner as she seeks her party's primary nomination. Following is the text of one ad and an analysis by Bee Political Editor Amy Chance and Jack Chang of The Bee Capitol Bureau:

TEXT: Why we can't trust Steve Poizner – Reason 21. Steve Poizner gave $10,000 to help Al Gore try to win the 2000 presidential election. And you thought Poizner was a Republican.

Well little did Meg know (shocking) but she gave $8,000 to Barbara Boxer and the DSCC in 2003.  And in fact...

Whitman also endorsed Boxer in 2003 as a member of the group Technology Leaders for Boxer. In a joint letter publicized by the Boxer campaign, Whitman wrote, "Barbara Boxer is a courageous leader and friend of California's technology industry." She has said she liked Boxer's opposition to Internet taxes.

Of course, Jerry Brown is the man for California, so I am not particularly enamored with Poizner.  But I guess in California we will see if a ton of cash can wash away the stain of hypocrisy (seems to be the word of the week). I certainly don't care who has more Republican or Conservative credibility with the TEabagger Nation.  But I simply find it humorous that with all that money, Meg can't seem to get out of her own way.

Time for a cute metaphor:

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
