Jason Altmire, according to PA2010.com failed to gain the endorsement for Congress for PA-04 from the Westmoreland Democratic Committee yesterday at their annual endorsement convention at Greensburg Salem High School.

Now the sad catch for him is... he is running unopposed according to pa2010. This is very symbolic of the ramifications that Rep. Altmire could face in gathering local support in his re-election effort against Mary Beth Buchanan if he votes "No" today on Health Care reform. One thing is pretty clear however, Altmire is not going to receive support either way from the Republicans, who are going to vote for Buchanan regardless if he does or does not support the bill. Westmoreland endorsed Jack Wagner for Gov, Arlen Specter for Senate and Scott Conklin for Lt. Gov.
Allegheny County Democratic Party Chairman Jim Burn said Mr. Altmire is turning his back on his base at his own peril.
"To the extent that he thinks he is appeasing some of the conservative forces in his district, I think he's miscalculated," Mr. Burn said. "They weren't for him in '06 and '08 and they won't be for him now despite this vote."

Intersting tidbits: Richard Mellon Scaife's newspaper referred to Specter's 67 to 44 win over Rep. Sestak as a "narrow" win.
Connecting the dots, Scaife has donated the maximum amount of money to Sestak and is a die hard Toomey supporter.
