It's cold and rainy here in CT today, and I checked out the Tampa Bay Tribune just to get some sunny news from a warmer climate.
This front page story made my day - especially the comment section. I love Floridians!
Florida Republicans look to dismantle health care overhaul
Florida Republicans are getting their feathers all in a fluff over the new bill:
Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum, a Republican running for governor, started Monday morning with a promise to join nine other Republican attorneys general from other states to sue over the mandate. Later in the day, Republicans in a House committee passed legislation urging him to sue as soon as President Barack Obama signs the bill into law today.
Probably not a good idea, but let's see some of the reactions.
First, it looks like he wants Floridians to take the Teabagger Pledge.
McCollum said he might also challenge another mandate in the health bill: the expansion of Medicaid, the state-federal program for the poor already serving 14 percent of Florida's population.
The Democrat fights back:
State Sen. Dan Gelber, a Democrat running to replace McCollum as attorney general, criticized McCollum for spending his time threatening to block health reform rather than fixing the problem.
"It's a weak lawsuit at best," Gelber said. "This is all about partisanship."
McCollum said he was standing on principle.
"No politics involved with this whatsoever," he said. "This bill is wrong."
The Tribune's readers are one pissed off group of Sunshine Staters:

I don't know why I continue to be amazed at the arrogance and hypocrisy of these politicians. Give up your federally paid healthcare and we'll talk.

Republicans need to listen to David Frum, Bush's former speechwriter.
He states the Republicans went the radical way with Health Care, and have met their Waterloo. A Republican Strategist says this.

Wow, guess the republican leaders would rather spend millions on a useless fight just to try and save face, rather than spend the millions of dollars aiding the citizens of their state who are facing foreclosure, starving, or unemployed. But, I forgot, the republicans only care about the republican party and NOT the American people.
Note to all Republican leaders out there. Keep doing what you are doing. You blatant disregard for your constituents is the shovel, and the lies that flow from your mouths is the grave that keeps getting deeper.

It's wrong for insurance companies that have you in their pocket and see this bill as a way of losing control. They invest a lot of money in people like you Mr. McCollum who have long ago been bought and paid for by special interests like the health care giants.
The only principle you are standing on is the sh!tload of money that you make from the health care companies you sold out to.
They give trolls a quick smackdown:

This Attorney General better start to rethink his position if he wants to run for governor:

I read several papers around the state and all comments are similar....against McCollum. What has McCollum done during his time as AG to gain my vote for Governor? I want to have an alternative Republican candidate. I do not like this guy and as I read, neither do many Floridians that post comments throughout the state.
real soon.
