What...a...weekend...I gotta say the House is way more fun to watch than the Senate. If the Senate is like herding cats, the House is like herding cats foaming at the mouth & yakking up hairballs at the same time! And, if anyone knows hairball yakking, it's THIS ONE. ;D
I know there will be a segment or 2 or 3 about the goings - on in DC this weekend, but if you want a quickie gander as to how your Rep. voted, the roll call for the vote on the Senate bill is here; the roll call for the vote on the reconciliation package is here. There is still much work to be done; after all, the Senate is where bills go to die.
Let's mention a couple fun birthdays for "this day in history!" Chico Marx was born on this date in 1887. Man, this guy was GOOD!
And, he was FUNNY!
And, William Shatner is celebrating a birthday! He earned my ever - lasting respect when he lent some of his acting creds to some "interpretive poetry." ;D
Let's Countdown!
Keith is back for tonight!!
#5 "Breaking News" AKA "Parliamentarian Denies GOP’s First Challenge" - I’ve posted just a few comments about the weekend activities above. Speaker Pelosi signed the Senate bill today; President Obama will probably do so tomorrow. Senator Kennedy’s widow went to her husband’s grave while debate was going on in the House. Now, the GOP thinks they can just go in & repeal HCR even after it’s been signed into law; huh, they must’ve missed that day in Civics 101. They’re using the TurdBlossom math, too.
Senator McCentury expressed his extreme displeasure on GMA this morning. It looks like Lawrence O’Donnell was correct in his prediction that HCR wouldn’t be passed until March; yep, I remember the night he predicted that! The GOP thought they’d be able to use some sort of point of order in the Senate having to do with possible effects on Social Security to put the kibosh on all this {insert annoying buzzer noise here}. Huh, the GOP didn’t do their homework very well now, did they, about that 1995 precedent that favored the Dems! Well, homework’s book learnin’ – damn hippie educated elitists! ;D
There are probably more procedural tricks up the GOP’s sleeve, so let’s not get too penisy. ;D The ONLY way I want to see HCR go back to the House is if by some miracle of Biblical proportions a public option amendment wins in the Senate. The health insurance industry might act like they’re following the spirit of the law before some of the conditions go into effect; I ain’t holdin’ my breath on THAT score. Good evening to Howard Fineman – birther! No, he’s not, silly gooses!
#4 "Hate Speech" AKA "Ugly Fight" - Look at Bat$hit Bachmann greeting the tea baggers over the weekend. Did she think she’s the Eva Peron of the tea baggers or something?! Good sparkin’ Lord, if she doesn’t lose in November... *&^%$#@!
Rep. Barney Frank got called...well...a variation of what CoulterGeist called John Edwards; Rep. John Lewis & my Rep., Andre’ Carson, got called the "n" word. Huh, I wonder if the crowd knew Rep. Carson is Muslim, too?! Man, they would’ve REALLY brought out the hate. Congress critters were spat upon, told to go home, and Rep. Neugebauer admitted to calling Barty Stupak "baby killer" or some variation thereof. Keep being classy, GOP! *&^%$#@! Rep. James Clyburn has to be a tired but happy man. Rep. Clyburn actually thinks the Senate will be able to get its part done by Sunday?! Oh honey, no disrespect intended, but have you see this Senate lately??!! The National Review thinks racism is dead; well, of course they do. According to Rep. Clyburn, even GOP House members egged on tea baggers WHILE THEY WERE ON THE FLOOR OF THE DAMN HOUSE!
#3 " Waterloo" AKA "Waterloo Sunset" AKA "Frum Here to Electability" - Lonesome Rhodes thanked the Dems & "progressives" for passing HCR because of the big GOP victories down the pike in November; Small Price to Pay Goldilocks was saying basically the same thing. Whatever...he’s just pi$$ed about that new tanning bed tax, now. ;D
Once again, both gentlemen used the TurdBlossom math. David Frum called the HCR vote the GOP’s Waterloo a la Senator DeMint’s comment. Here’s our Great Orange Satanic leader! It was lovely of him to pass along the condolences from all of us at Daily Kos. Thanks, Marcos! There was big ‘ol backlash against Dems after the passage of Medicare? Great...just great...
#2 "Sweet Sixteen" - OK, not to take too much away from Keith’s beloved Cornell, my local university, Butler University, is also in the Sweet 16! Cornell’s not exactly been a basketball power house. Cornell gets to play Kentucky Thursday night. Well, Keith, just look what happened to Kansas Saturday night; hope is not lost! And, Cornell doesn’t give out athletic scholarships?! What a novel concept!! One of Cornell’s coaches spent all their travelling money on hookers – HA! Bless Keith for being so happy about his alma mater.
"Special Comment" - Keith is back just for tonight; hell, that’s fine. I’ve said before; I’ll say again. Take in a baseball game or 2 or 3 or 4 dozen, watch your beloved Cornell in the NCAA, and TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! I had no idea that the "person" who ordered all the "black people" out of Wallmart was a 16 – year – old! Gack... As I said above, Rep. Andre Carson is my Rep, and I’m damn proud of him. Jon Voight was with Bat$hit Bachmann this past weekend; his daughter, Angelia Jolie, must be THRILLED. So much for that whole reuniting stuff! Some BRILLIANT Rep. tried to defend these tactics by claiming they were responding to "...totalitarian tactics..."?! O...M...G... How did his tongue not go screaming out of his pie hole due to the toxicity of the environment??!! And, Keith had some "lovely" comments about Small Price to Pay Goldilocks – LOVE IT! And, yes, there have been way too many of "isolated incidents" of ugliness. Uh – oh, Toyota will be THRILLED at being included – HA! Um...Keith...I don’t think the GOP is gonna listen to you; hell, they haven’t even listened to those within their ranks begging them to tone it down.
