I don't have what you'd call discretionary income. In fact, I'm doing everything I can just to get rid of my credit card debt that's been haunting me since 1997. But I can afford $1 a day if it'll help spread the good news about health reform, and more specifically, the fact that my Representative, Kenny Marchant of Texas, voted against it.
This is a guy who, on Twitter, basically just parrots whatever John Boehner says. I've tried starting a dialogue with him there, and through e-mail, but he doesn't respond. Why would he respond? After all, I disagree with him.
I don't belong in Texas, represented by a dittohead, but for the time being, here I am. I thought it was time I did my part to try to influence public perception a bit. You know, the public perception that Democrats are a do-nothing party, and all they do is raise taxes?
So I started this ad campaign to run on Google's content network. I basically just took a news story from Reuters (I trust them because they're boring) and pointed out different pieces of it, as they relate to my man Marchant:
I used the Keyword Generator tool to find lots of variations of "representative", "congressman", "marchant", Ken, Kenny, Kenneth, etc.
I set the campaign only to run in the city of Dallas, which I may tweak soon to more specifically include all his constituents. But you want to be specific with your locations so that you're not wasting page impressions. I also excluded people younger than 18. I'm not 100% on that decision, either, and welcome your input.
I also have a tax question: can I spend whatever I want on my personal campaign without it being, you know, a thing? Is there an annual limit?
