While on my daily troll postings, I came across some posts in other diaries and I got to thinking, yes it is dangerous for me some days, I know...and being a natural blonde (or is it blond) it can be even more so...
I've read, here and there that what was accomplished "was the best we could do" for health insurance reform. Okay, I sort of agree and disagree, but we all have differing views.
6 of 1, half dozen of the other. Someone asked what would you have done.
Okay, here's my list and shot at fixing our problems.
Now don't forget this is just a thought experiment here:
We, the government do swear to do all in our collective powers to ensure, "life" for everyone in America.
Health care is a universal human right.
#1. Since health care is now a human right, it cannot be taxed.
#2. Health care is not "a for profit" industry.
Saving human lives cannot have a price tag or a bottom line.
#3. We therefore will restore the tax structure to the levels post WWII where corporations pay 80% tax on income/profits. Along with these tax increases for corporations, we will be restore the tax levels for the richest 1% of Americans to pre-Reagan levels.
#4. Any and all medical services, pharmaceuticals, etc. are also non-profit.
We have been supporting the majority of discoveries and advances this past century, through funding to and for Universities and their research breakthroughs have advanced the human race more in the last 100 yrs. than in our entire collective human history.
It's clear that we must now conclude education is a Universal Human Right.
Any and all past and future breakthroughs in research will not be patented, if they are/were funded with public monies; they are for all to share and expand upon. If such work was patented previously, we will give said patent holder a one time buyout fee of $1 million dollars.
#5. If someone uses, adapts or improves on those publicly funded breakthroughs; they will be awarded a patent. We, (the Federal Government and the person or people who made said advancement), will split any and all profits 50-50 from any sales or discoveries or awarded patents based on said original breakthrough(s).
#6. Since Education is a Universal Human Right, we must do all in our power(s) to ensure those that wish Education shall be provided such at no cost. Furthermore, education cannot be taxed nor educational materials, supplies, training, or services, etc.
#7. We will pay for these new Universal Human Rights through #3 and the patent provisions above and those taxes and revenues will only be used for either Health Care, Health Services or Education, Educational Services, Funding for research and the like. These funds cannot be used for any other purpose and must be kept separate from any and all other accounts.
#8. We will create an Agency whose task will be to
create the mechanisms by which these things are now mandated, enforced and administered, etc.
They will follow the creed, "first do no harm". When developing said mechanisms and policies, procedures, etc.
#9. This agency will create minimum standards of care and educational expectations for all who participate. Noting that participation is and always shall be voluntary.
#10. At no time can anyone work for the government then go into the private sector which relates to or benefits from these institutions, nor can any family members or friends, etc.
The ethical standards are of utmost concern. The "proverbial" revolving door has now been closed, permanently. Any such violations will mean, lifelong imprisonment, without parole.
These new mandates go into effect within 1 year. They are above review by any Federal, State, Local Court or any International Tribunal. And they cannot be altered or changed by any Executive order, Executive Signing Statement, or Executive Agreement or International Treaty.

Pretty easy right?
