The last week on Twitter has been, well, odd. I'm starting to suspect that about 10% of the Tea Party leadership are the snarkmeisters from the Progressive #p2 hashtag. Following relentless #tagbagger expatina will allow you to learn how to participate in this fun sport. And Eric Cantor brings the #fail like no one else could.
So, keeping in mind that polls are like crack, let's jump over the fold ...
I spent some time on the phone this morning with @Klout CEO @JoeFernandez. Here's the official word on True Reach, paraphrased and subject to the vagaries of my Lyme damaged memory.
True Reach is very complex computationally and it requires a good amount of data to calculate. It can also break down on accounts with more than 50,000 follower, but this is a limit of the Twitter API rather than anything on Klout's side.
Some things that can improve True Reach are the removal of dead end followers, which makes the whole thing run faster, and better engagement. Make sure you at least greet each new follower that you have, and it should go without saying - you need to have a Klout account.
The very quickest way to get rid of dead ends is with The Twit Cleaner. This is a little Austrialian operation and I talk with the founder some times. He's very interested in how things fit together and The Twit Cleaner is a result of this fascination being turned on human (and bot) relationships in Twitter.
Big mover of the week? Yeah, it's me - jumping from sixth place to third. This was entirely due to @RepHankJohnson showing up, engaging me, and then he spent some time talking to some of the other #p2 leaders including a nice thank you to @slinkerwink for all her hard work on #hcr (Twitter shorthand for health care reform).
Next week's big mover is likely to be @RL_Miller, who turned up ready to get busy on climate issues. The Blog Workers Industrial Union already has a group working climate issues, so introduction were made and now it's off to the races.
Call out down below if you're not on the list and we'll get you added in :-)
