First, an apology: I know the title doesn't really make sense, but I couldn't help but combining an awesome movie and an awesome candidate.

Tomorrow, there will be a money-bomb event for Alan Grayson.  He is a true progressive who has stood up against the lies and fear surrounding the health care bill, and it is our duty as activists to support the elected officials who fight for what we believe in.

That's only half of our responsibility, though.  In addition to rewarding those who are already elected, we must help to elect new progressive allies in the House and the Senate, especially in a year when the DSCC has decided to back moderates instead of progressives.  That's why the Jennifer Brunner campaign is holding a money-bomb event today.  Because while it is important to reward the elected officials who fight for what we believe in, they have fundraising connections and tools available to them that progressive candidates can only dream about.

If you support marriage equality as a basic civil right, you should donate to Jennifer Brunner today.  Brunner has supported marriage equality since the 1980's, long before it was considered "cool".  She supports adoption rights for LGBT parents.  She supports the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell.  If elected, she will be a passionate and faithful ally to the LGBT community.

If you support the environment, you should donate to Jennifer Brunner today.  She supports the creation of green jobs as a means of revitalizing Ohio's economy.  She supports upgrading our country's energy grid and ending our dependence on foreign oil.  She also recognizes that global climate change is a real problem with real consequences, and we must take steps to save our environment.

If you support women, and their rights, you should donate to Jennifer Brunner today.  Jennifer supports a woman's right to choose, and supports equal pay for equal work.  It's also ridiculous that, while women comprise 50% of the population, they comprise just 17% of the US Senate.  We need more women in office!

If you oppose the death penalty, you should donate to Jennifer Brunner today.  Jennifer saw how executions in the state of Ohio were continually botched, and voiced her opposition.

If you think that corporate money in elections is a damning influence, you should donate to Jennifer Brunner today.  Her opponent has raised $7400 from health insurance companies and their CEOs and $17400 from large banks and their CEOs.  It would be incredible if we could raise that much money for Jennifer today.  It would be comforting to know that while her opponent, Lee Fisher, will be accountable and answerable to giant corporations, Jennifer will be a candidate financed by activists and true progressives.

These are just five of the reasons I support Jennifer, and why I will be contributing today.  I encourage you to do the same, and contribute to Jennifer Brunner's money bomb today!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
