Michael Steele has broken his silence this morning about the criticism and pressure he's under to resign. Stephanopoulos tweeted about his interview with him this morning...
From the full writeup on ABC's website:
"My view on politics is much more grassroots oriented ... so I tend to, you know, come at it a little bit stronger, a little bit more street-wise. That's rubbed some feathers the wrong way," Steele added.
In fact, Michael Steel is soooo grassroots oriented, that he spends tens of thousands of dollars on himself every month for private jets, hotels and limos. That's a pretty interesting definition of "grassroots oriented". I guess when your party's grassroots are investment bankers, CEOs, Health Care executives, etc., grassroots = wasting money on luxury items.
As for those calling for his resignation, "they've been saying that since I got the job," Steele said.
Cue the violins. Actually they've been saying that ever since you proved what a colossally awful chairman you would be, Michael. If "they" had been saying that since you got the job, "they" wouldn't have elected you in the first place.
