Last fall my daughter showed me the difference a single person's efforts can make when she raised over $500 for the WWF selling bookmarks she created. Today she has taken on a new challenge... TRASH!
On a recent trip to the Museum of Science my 6 year old daughter saw an exhibit called "Running the Numbers" that was all about trash. It had pictures that showed just how wasteful we are in our daily lives. Among other facts she read:
"2 million plastic beverage bottles are thrown away in the United States every 5 minutes."
"2.4 million pounds of plastic enter the world's oceans every hour."
She was horrified. She went home and began thinking of ways to make less trash. After coming up with several ideas she put everything together in a presentation and asked me to film her. Her video is now up on her website and YouTube. Her hope is that people will watch it and be inspired to change at least one thing about their own life to create less trash. She also asks that viewers pass it on. In an attempt to help her pass it on, and get the word out, I am posting about it here. Please help her on her mission. Pass it on!
Thank you.
