Well, darn.

I had hoped to catch up with my chapter-by-chapter reviews of Brian Wansink's Mindless Eating, but my week is still catching up with me. Follow me after the jump for another WHEE Open Thread - but first...

WHEE (Weight, Health, Eating and Exercise) is a community support diary for Kossacks who are currently or planning to start losing, gaining or maintaining their weight through diet and exercise or fitness. Any supportive comments, suggestions or positive distractions are appreciated. If you are working on your weight or fitness, please -- join us! You can also click the WHEE tag to view all diary posts.

I went looking for a link I saw earlier today, and couldn't find it right away - but I found a number of other health/nutrition etc links.

Kids turning up their noses at Jamie Oliver's healthy lunches
The students at Central City Elementary School in Huntington, West Virginia, prefer the school lunches they're used to over Oliver's healthy offerings. Bad news? Maybe - but Oliver faced a similar initial reaction from students when he reworked school lunches at home in England. Some parents picked up fish and chips or fast food and passed the bad lunches over fences to their children. More recently, however, students have come to enjoy the healthy fare, so maybe there's hope for West Virginia yet.

Job stress may be making you fat.
Germs may be making you fat.
Chemicals may be making you fat.
Cutting calorie intake may be making you fat
(this was the link I was looking for originally).

Biggest Loser TV show contestants may be risking their health by losing weight too quickly
(O RLY?).

Is the NEW Atkins Diet a protein overload?
(according to the article: No, unless you have a kidney condition or other reason to keep your protein intake low - in other words, no different from the OLD Atkins Diet)

Taxing soda and pizza could cut obesity -
but only if it's a good-sized tax.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
