I watched Fox News on purpose tonight. I couldn't handle Beck, but I had it on pretty much through Shepherd, O'Riley and the first 25 minutes of Hannity. I watched it for two reasons: Hannity's reaction to being yanked from a well publicized Teabag event, and I wanted to see how the "opinion shows" handled general teabag coverage.
Smith had a small segment on it...Riley had hardly anyting, and Hannity didn't mention it AT ALL during the first 25 minutes.
There were allegedly 660 tea bag events across the country, publicized and organized and supported by and encouraged by and reported on by FOX News...
Yet not much coverage at all....hmmmm.
The Cincy Teabaggers rent out a 13,000 seat arena, sell tickets for the last week to see a live taping of hannity. And today, all of a sudden Fox says uh..Sean, come back to NYC, you're not participating in this. Hannity sold tickets, hannity pimped this out like crazy, hannity's website had a direct link to the tickets...and for the first 25 minutes of his show, he didn't even mention it. Bus meet Tea Party.
Then..let's see the reports of these massive grassroots protests..
Where was the inflated crowd numbers, the producers whooping up the crowd before the live shot, where was the hot fox anchors doing live remotes?
(sorry..that was just the guy in me talking :-) Nothing...nada....zilch.
And just like that, maybe because someone had the guts to ask Rupert Murdoch why he lets his "media" pimp out the Tea Baggers? Or maybe they are just taking a break? Or maybe they are realizing what a joke they've become. Whatever it is, I welcome the sanity. Maybe the FNC zombies can start thinking for themselves....
Though probably not!
