Can someone talk sense into the DSCC?
I just read this today:
http://hotlineoncall.nationaljournal.com/...
As Ohio wends its way toward the primary a mere eight days away, the DSCC is virtually admitting it backed the wrong horse in Ohio. They are saying that despite setting in motion their powerful network of contacts to strangle Jennifer Brunner's fundraising, she's still so competitive that they are thinking of (and hopefully thinking better of) bringing backup into Ohio for their chosen candidate, Lee Fisher, to save his ass from a race that wasn't supposed to be this close. Hey, even some of you Kossacks told us she should drop out, never mind she's EXACTLY the sort of unabashed progressive we're always saying we want more of in Congress.

If they do this, it's a virtual admission that Jennifer is the better candidate to beat Rob Portman in the fall. She's run for a year and three months on fumes, while the party establishment and all its wealthy donors here in Ohio and in Washington D.C. have poured money into Fisher's coffers. From Huntington Bank to KeyBank to the president of Goldman Sachs to Harry Reid and Blanche Lincoln (Oh, DSCC, let's talk about Blanche Lincoln, for a moment, shall we? If you need to protect her, maybe it's time for her to go), he's got all the deep-pocket institutional donors. And yet, in all that time, he has never been able to gain an edge on Jennifer. She's still so viable that they may have to bail Fisher out!
I don't know about you, but I think this is a misappropriation of donations made by Democrats in hopes of getting a more Democratic Senate -- that is, to beat REPUBLICANS -- not to put their finger on the scale as voters are choosing between two Democrats.
While Lee Fisher is huddling with his wealthy, powerful buddies (we can't find evidence of any upcoming campaign appearances going into the final week), Jennifer is traveling around the state in an old school bus called the Courage Express, going to meetings and Democratic clubs and even stopping at the houses of people she knows, talking to VOTERS.

Hopefully, that will pay off, because we need a senator from Ohio who talks to us and knows what we need, not one who is relying on the Big Boys who already belong to the club to get him in.
I know my diaries about Jennifer have tapered off, and I apologize, but the real race is now on the ground in Ohio, not here. Jennifer isn't going to win the money race, although Democracy for America gave her a nice little infusion -- thank you, Jim Dean! So supporters like me have been pounding the pavement, passing out literature, making phone calls, writing postcards. And we do NOT appreciate the high and mighty sitting in their offices in D.C. telling us, "This is the person we want in the club."
Anyone who wants to make calls, we can still use your help:

But realize that you won't be getting any more Christmas cards from Bob Menendez.
