I feel that imbecile Andre Bauer (not the wonderful actor Andre Braugher, rather the Lt. Gov. of South Carolina) who's talking about how great it is to lazily kick back and sponge off the generous government is, really ought to try it. But while I'd love to see him (and his right-wing pledge buddies) all living large on welfare, that seems unlikely in the short term.
All the breathless claims from the right about how much fun it is to be poor and without work are lies of course. So, why not put some enterprising young film-maker to the task of actually living on government assistance for a while, so she can show everyone all the good clean all-American fun that poverty entails? The Macaca moment saved Virginia some embarrassment in the long term after all and this lie needs to be exploded.
Can anyone out there think of a better way to do that?
Thoughts?
