Kris Kobach -- former Ashcroft flunky at DOJ, current Republican candidate for Kansas Secretary of State -- wrote an opinion piece in the New York Times this morning blathering on about how wonderful the new Arizona law is, and how ridiculous the critics are being for suggesting that cops would engage in racial profiling.
As a measure of his honesty, here's a few things Kobach forgot to mention: he helped write the damn thing, and is now being PAID to help local law enforcement by training them on how to arrest suspects under the new law.
The integrity of this man -- ok, he has no integrity -- but the hutzpah of this man to come out and pretend he is a neutral observer on this matter, and then launching into an "objective" analysis of the crappy words in his crappy bill is just unbelievable.
But before we get there, here is all the infio.
here is Kobach's opiniom piece
Then, here is the info that he helped write it.
Then, here is the info about him getting paid.
This guy is so dishonest -- and so wrapped up in this law -- that I think he should be made an example of. He is running for public office? Cripple him.
Here is the website for Chris Biggs, the likely Democratic nominee. (His sole opponent was just implicated in a major ethics investigation.)
And here is the site to donate to Biggs' campaign.
A lesson needs to be taught here: This immigration law is the third rail of American politics. You have anything to do with it -- and then DEFEND your own work while not disclosing your role or your profits -- then you should suffer at the polls.
