You gotta love this.
More MSM BS as the AP's Erica Werner once again shows that reporters are more interested in delivering "he said, she said" than delivering facts (unless it's a year later). It appears from today's report that she believes that GOP lies can only be exposed after the political fight is over.
The AP's Erica Werner reports some amazing facts today about how Dems have learned from the healthcare debate.
After pursuing bipartisan talks for months on health care and deflecting rather than challenging Republican critics, President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies are deploying a more aggressive approach in their attempt to push financial overhaul legislation through the Senate.
A little further on, she dutifully reports a quote from Sen. Schumer:
"Bottom line, on the health care bill, we allowed too many lies to get out there without rebuttal, because we thought they were so obviously untrue," he said. "But we've learned our lesson."
Then, an interesting thing happens. She reports her own opinion!
Last year, though, health care negotiations between Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee chewed through crucial months before Obama finally pulled the plug. Opponents of the legislation used the time to attack the president's plan, claiming falsely it would have led to death panels for the elderly, for example, and draining away public support.
Hmm. Exactly when did she determine that the claims were 'false?'
Possibly we could get the precise timing, then determine a new "Werner Unit." This would give us all an idea as to when she and the AP will finally get around to reporting on the veracity of the GOP's claim that Mr. Obama's financial reform plan will result in a "permanent bailout" by taxpayers.
That's right Erica. Keep on keepin' on!
