Keith Sadler, a Toledo Ohio resident, is taking the law into his own hands. He is resisting foreclosure by squatting in the house he was evicted from and taking the fight to the banks and the Sheriff. The most notable part of this protest is that he is broadcasting the entire thing via webcam.
You can watch his resistance here. Keith is a laid off auto-worker, who was evicted from his home. He has been protesting the foreclosure since Sunday afternoon by refusing to leave his home.
Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), the representative for Toledo has addressed the topic of foreclosure, and has urged those losing their house to put up a fight. Kaptur's said in a statement "So I say to the American people, you be squatters in your own homes. Don't you leave."
This is a very important protest and it is very important to get the word out, and to put the pressure on the city of Toledo to put a moratorium on foreclosures. It brings about questions about the morality of a system that can put people out on the streets to satiate corporate greed. If you want to help Keith, you can watch his stream, call the Sheriff (419-354-9001) and the State Bank and Trust (419-783-8950). You can tie up their phone lines and show your support for Keith's protest.
Here is video of him explaining how the police used bolt cutters to cut power to the home.
The Toledo Blade picked up the story, and here is a link to that story. It is currently number one on the list of top read stories on their website.
UPDATE: The story has blown up big enough that even Michael Moore is talking about it. Check out the front page of his website.
I will update this diary as the situation progresses.
