Yes, it's finally arrived at Blogistan Polytechnic Institute. After a year spent developing the student body (nice legs, by the way) and the satellite faculty (nice moons, too) and a review of our spring semester, it's time for that End-of-Semester Activity Fraught With Stress And Sometimes Disappointment.
So slip on that tux with matching #2 lead pencil, or that low-cut slide rule that shows most of Cleaveland, and join us for our very first formal dance. Or something.
More below the fold....
Whew, What a Spring - That End-of-Semester Activity (Non-Cynical Saturday)
This week Morning Feature paused to look back at what we've covered over past four months. Thursday we reviewed the topics offered by the resident faculty. Yesterday we reviewed the work of our satellite faculty. So we should all be ready for today's end-of-semester activity, right? Left-left-right-twirl?
Then let's get to it. Books closed. Cue the bands....
+++++
For each song, either: (a) chair-dance; or, (b) answer one of the two questions beneath the video....
Doobie Brothers: "Takin' it to the Streets"
- Discuss the role of personal activism in enhancing the stickiness of political narratives and creating a bandwagon effect. Use factual examples if possible.
- Explain how you will celebrate in the streets if the Boston Bruins win this year's Stanley Cup. Use flattering lies if necessary.
Chicago: "Searchin' So Long"
- Discuss the importance of examining priorities in light of our Six Progressive Issues, and how each can be cast in terms of our three-part Democratic Manifesto.
- Explain how the Boston Celtics chances of winning this year's NBA Championship summarize the meaning of life.
Boston: "More Than a Feeling"
- Compare the original Boston Tea Party to the modern Tea Party GOP with an emphasis on Drew Westin's research on the importance of emotions in political dialogue.
- Explain why your feelings are buoyed by the improving play of the Team Whose Sox Are Red But Hearts Are Blue.
James Taylor: "Millworker"
- Compare and contrast the early growth of the American labor union movement and the modern failure of banking regulation, in terms of the participants' views on wealth privilege.
- Discuss why James Taylor should sing the National Anthem at every major sporting event in Boston.
Beatles: "Long and Winding Road"
- Estimate our current month of the year in long cycle of Conservative Autumn and Winter followed by Progressive Spring and Summer, and discuss the legislative and narrative prerequisites for continued warming.
- Discuss your history of rooting for Boston sports franchises and why their achievements have been highlights of your life.
Assessing Your End-of-Semester Activity Fraught With Stress And Often Disappointment:
Score one point for each song that you chair-danced to, or one point for each question you answered. Divide your point total by the number of songs you chair-danced to or questions answered. Multiply by 4.0 That is your spring semester grade. If your grade is not 4.0, you either calculated it incorrectly or didn't chair-dance to any songs or answer any questions.
This exam meets the requirements of the BPI No Cheeky Left Behind policy.

Happy Saturday!
