America is headed towards a bad place.
A solid 64% of Americans(not Arizonans) support the Arizona law. same number believe it will lead to discrimination against Latinos.
I bet 66% believe in segregation too. That same number believe it'll lead to second class status for poor minorities.
At last the myth of the land of the free and the home of the brave has been unmasked.
Make no mistake I believe that legal immigration is the ideal. But I know that people wouldn't move to a country if they couldn't find jobs.
A majority of the illegal immigrants are employed in semi-slavery jobs. They toil up to 18-hrs a day for a stipend enough to feed them and house 5 people in a 2 bedroom apartment. That is the reality of many illegal immigrants.
They don't work for the federal government or state governments. They don't work for large employers who must pay minimum wages and give health benefits among others.
They work for Joe the pizza seller, mike the pig farmer and Annie the laundry store owner. They work for small businesses and farms too far for the reach of the law.
They also take care of the babies that young couples breed. They mow Mitt Romney's lawn and clean the site of contractor Pete before the crew arrives for the day.
They work under the shadow of the law because hypocrites who hate them for 'corrupting' their culture would rather pay them a stipend than pay an American citizen a decent wage.
Let's hope that congress does the right thing and passes real immigration reform that will make it illegal to enslave undocumented workers with sub-human wages.
That will lift everybody up and illegal immigrants will choose home over joblessness in a foreign land.
