After the BP accident and ongoing oil spill there has been a lot of people saying "ya see, when are we going renewable".
I'm not a worldly person so maybe some of you can help me. In the area where I live the utility companies are privitly owned. A new power plant gets built the rate payers pay for it, grid upgrades the ratepayers once again. The electricity is sold, a profit is made and life goes on.
So the delima now is who should build the renewable energy plants? America is a capitalistic society so for the most part if a profit can't be turned no one will venture into it. Is this why there is no widespread funding of renewable plants?
Now please bear with me, this is my first diary, my spelling sucks and my grammar is'nt the best and I was told once on this site that my syntax (I thought that was what they put on alcohol) was horrible.
I am an outdoorsman and love the enviroment as much as the next person. There are some people out there probobly a little bit more passionate then me. Some of them have boatloads of cash. I would love to see these people band together and start a utility company and go public. I would invest. Some of these people have friends in very high places so getting approvals to build should be a rubber stamp deal. If the government is so committed to renewables they have to get on board in a bigger way. Or they must be the new utility company. Should the feds be building the wind farms. This is a way to put people to work and heaven forbid maybe pay for itself once it's up and running. Do I just see this a little to simple. Yes I know the grid has to be updated but is it. Can someone let us know how that's getting along?
Building codes also must be changed now so all new construction is required to have solar panel. It is much cheaper to install on new construction than to retro fit. To me this is such a gimmie and the easiest thing to implement why isn't this done?
Allright like I said I'm not one to publish something so big so I'll end here. And to all the people accusing me of being a 1 topic person, wrong!
