The choice seems clear. The citizens of the world can either succumb to the environmental, economic, and human devastation caused by the current world system of oligarchic, fascist, plutocratic and theocratic national governments, or fight back. The consequences of not fighting back, for this century and maybe for time infinte, are grave. A look back at the last century, the first full century of technological advancement, shows what can happen in a century. World wars, democide, genocide, nation realignment, weapons creation beyond the imagination, hundreds of millions killed, and even more kept in poverty and servitude. This century, compared to 1910, is shaping up to be even more vicious and combined with ever increasing technology, particularly in weapons development and security procedures, the effects of climate change, environmental disasters and resource wars, and the austerity measures being forced on citizens for the benefit of the elite, contains possibilities too difficult to imagine.
We live in an era of globalization. Governments, corporations, and banks operate in a global manner with two motives: profit and power. The western elite hold the cards. They are seeking a new world order. It's nothing new. It's been out in the open at least since H.G.W. Bush looked us in the eye and told us so on national TV. Who "they" are exactly is hard to pinpoint. "The Elite" There's the Illluminati, the supposed thirteen family head of monetary power stretching back centuries. There's the Bilderbergers, the G20, the Trilaterial Commission, the Zionists, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Bank of England, the Federal Reserve, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the giant multinational corporations, banks, and stock exchanges, and the Military Industrial Complex. Conspiracy theories abound but the events and actions taking place before our eyes point to a globally coordinated effort to exert control over the earth's population. In a way, it doesn't matter exactly who "they" are, what matters is we recognize there is a "they".
It seems time to admit, the human race has never been able to organize itself in a peaceful and equitable manner. We thought we nailed it around 234 years ago. We thought we created a way where people could live and know that "all men are created equal" and have an inalienable right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of justice". But it hasn't worked out quite like the documents seemed to envision. We know now that like speeches, the documents were believed by some, and just pieces of paper for others, then and now. One only has to look at slavery and the attempted genocide of Native Americans to see the hypocrisy.
Global austerity or bust, except for the elite. If the elite are going to go all global on us, then the people of the world have to go global right back, if we are to have any say. Ahmed, Jose, Lars, Bob, Mohammed, Malcolm, Pierre, Dikembe, Andre, and Dimitri are all in this together now. There's strength in numbers and the situation is calling for all hands on deck.
The European Union’s giant bailout package continues the agenda. The European bankers and corporate elite will have their billions in bad loans repaid by the governments, while the taxpaying workers of Greece, Spain, Ireland, Italy, and Germany will have their wages reduced, their pensions slashed, their retirement ages raised, their taxes raised, and their social servies cut, all to pay back the debts to the elite.
The U.S. elite is watching Europe while laying the groundwork for austerity mesures on the working and middle classes. Constant messages sent via the elite's mainstream media/propaganda consortium talk about how we need to reduce the nation's debt, that we need to make tough choices. All while the elite continue their military backed imperailism, resource wars, offshoring of jobs, and transfer of wealth. To help get us out of this mess, U.S. citizens are and will be told that Social Security and Medicare will need to be reduced, pensions reduced, retirement ages increased, social services slashed, public education cut and a change in our overall standard of living required. It's already happening at the state level and will continue to the federal level with national austerity measures being forced. It's our patriotic duty to pay back what the elite stole.
We're in long shot territory now. I've lived over half a century. Thinking back, what's happening now is probably beyond the imagination of my youth. I suppose deep down I thought we'd have flying cars and robot maids, but I don't think I truly thought an elite group of people would really try to take over the world.
Exasperated with the present two party system in this country, I've explored third party possibilites and ground up politics. It's become clear to me that a major third party is nearly impossible due to the incredible power of the corrupt two party system and it's banking, media, and corporate backers. Ground up politics are important and should be expanded but will not solve the world's problems. They can certainly help communities prepare better for the effects of those problems.
I noticed that many Greek and Iceland citizens have been forming coalitions on the internet to try to jointly address the incredible banking crimes and resulting austerity measures that are being attemtped to make the common citizen pay for those same crimes. We know the banking crisis is an international crisis and the austerity measures being proposed and enacted in other countries are just a step away from here.
We have wars and no one can honestly say we won't have more, nor say that there won't be a really big one. The U.S. and NATO have continued the encirclement of Russia and China and will challenge them on the orders of the elite if necessary to achieve their New World Order. Another major and catastrophic World War could very well happen. We have climate change that some say could kill off billions this century. There are possibilities of food and water shortages, regardless of climate change, that could impact billions. Peak oil is coming while we continue resource wars with China and Russia and their allies, and ignore real efforts for alternative sources of energy. We have the potential for environmental catastrophes, as exhibited by the Gulf of Mexico oil gusher, that could threaten the ecological balance of the entire planet.
When will it stop? How can politics save us? Is it possible for the human race to come together to save itself and the planet it lives on? Or is it going to be every continent, every country, every state, every community for itself?
The people of the United States can't go this alone, not when you're talking about saving the planet. Citizens all over Europe and around the world are rising up and the combined numbers are growing. If enough Ahmeds and Bobs and Lars and Joses joined together in common cause, real change could happen. I have that hope. I think I'll keep that hope til the end.
Many have predicted a summer of rage this year. Alot depends on what the government and their bankers do next. Keep an eye on metropolitan Toronto later this month.
"The leaders of the G20 countries, as well as their central bank governors, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank and the European Union (EU) will be in Toronto on June 26-27, 2010. Nearly 20,000 delegates, 15,000 armed police and 5,000 media personnel will descend on Toronto to make it a very hot June weekend indeed."

First it happened to Africa and no one helped. Then it happened to Europe and no one helped. Then it happened to Asia and no one helped. Then it happened to us, and there was no one left to help.
