1. You can’t run against your own constituency. Are you listening Glen Nye? Rep. Artur Davis presides over one of the poorest Congressional districts in the United States. To be sure, people need health care in Alabama’s 7th district. What does Rep. Davis do? He votes against the health care reform bill not once, but twice? Why? who is he in Washington to represent? Health insurance companies?
2. He didn’t just fail to court the civil rights community, he made a particular blaring point of it. Why? For what reason does a black candidate for statewide office — IN ALABAMA — bend backwards to piss of the black civil rights establishment? This brought annoying your base to a whole new level.
3. He looked past the primary and was running as if he in the general. Davis was running to the center in the primary and forgot he had to win that before getting a chance in the general. President Obama’s people believe he can ignore the CBC and will still vote fo him again anyway in 2012 because black voters "have no place else to go..." Davis’ primary votes had some place else to go. And they went.
