Props to all who fought Props 16 and 17. I thought that their money was so overwhelming that we couldn't stop them -- but, after hours in which the absentee votes put those initiatives in the lead, the intrepid few who stood in the way of Pacific Gas & Electric and Mercury Insurance appear to have prevailed. First 16, and now 17, are going down to defeat.
Not much of a diary, I realize, but if you want discussion of the merits I had already weighed in here. I'm happy for my prediction to have, if present trends continue, turned out wrong. Anyone who has been part of this effort, stand up and take a bow.
In other news: remember that Nevada's Sharron Angle is now to be referred to as RAND PAULA.
Update: ortcutt posted a comment referring us to the maps pages for Prop 16, but I'm posting to the main page so readers can more easily check them all out. I had no idea that this sort of county-by-county breakdown of results was available in real time on the Secretary of State's site! Debra Bowen is indeed like unto a goddess!
